Sometimes called capri pants, depending on their length and opacity, leggings and footless tights are close-fitting with nearly full coverage, leaving your feet free. And yes, there's a difference between leggings and footless tights!
- Footless tights are simply tights with no foot and are less opaque, or thinner than leggings. Some patterned footless tights have a solid panty area. They're particularly perfect under dresses and shorts in warmer weather, for coverage without too much warmth.
- Leggings are more opaque or “like pants.” and a good warm pair leggings (or fleece-lined leggings!) are a wonderful addition to an outfit in the winter. For particularly cold locales, a lot of folks even wear them under their pants!
