Dream Stockings are a different breed of sock than you might be used to - the slightly more "fitted" nature often means they stay up better for me, but they're a little less elastic than some other offerings from SD, like Extraordinary socks, so remember to check the sizing!
If your calves are thick, these socks might be tight. If your feet are small or short, the foot of these socks might be too loose. I'm 5'6" with shoe size 8.5 men's or 10 women's.
All that said - these are my favorite-fitting socks from SD. They fit exactly the same way as "Rainbow Dreams Knee Socks" and discontinued "Striped Knees," with about a 1.5" elastic cuff that tends to roll, and a nice, wide toe box that you can stretch your toes in, and still have some extra room. Flat knit provides limited stretch up the length of the sock, only reinforced by elastic at the cuff. As mentioned, the cuff may roll, but the sock is also willing to slouch, leaving the cuff flat, and gripping at or slightly below the knee if it can't hold on higher. This foot style is what made me realize that I like some extra room, but layering crews or ankles can fix this if you don't like loose feet.
The knit is loose and elegant. Fine cotton yarn and flexible construction mean I can wear these in the summer, and if I were planning to wear long socks to Phoenix in the summer heat, I'd think about these first. They feel delicate, but are sturdy in the wash. The price is really fantastic if you're not rough with your garments. It's not the softest yarn, but I forget I'm wearing them.
The color is very golden, not lemon. The yarn tails are loose inside the body of the sock, but don't fee like they'll unravel. The jog is visible. That is, you can see a sort of "zig-zag" where the colors change; this is not an error, just a result of how knitting works, and is less visible with finer yarns and needles. Another reminder that these special socks are knit on antique machines, and are not much like the super-stretch sock material you get at Walmart. No shame, but if that's your preference, the Dreamer Socks (like Extraordinary) are more your taste, and have that mega-stretch.
My next acquisition might be the "Super Stripes Knee Socks" - they seem to have a similar construction to these socks, and my other faves, but with a longer, "spongier" cuff, more like the O Basics' cuff (another great pair I'm gonna need extra colors in!).
Additionally, "Dreamy Knees" seem to have the same exact fit, and come in great colors.
