Flattering, fancy and just the thing to finish off a dressy outfit, stockings are thinner thigh high styles that often need to be held up with a garter belt (though there are styles designed to stay up on their own). Sheer stockings are often called nylons, but stockings range from whisper-sheer to opaque, and include net and lace styles too! Basically, if it's too thin to be a sock, it's a stocking!
