I just received a black pair of these and unfortunately I am quite disappointed. There’s a number of problems I noticed and I don’t think I’ll be wearing them.
I was initially sent the wrong colour by mistake (Sock Dreams very kind and helpful, easily got everything sorted and sent me the right ones :) !) so I was able to try on the beige colour as well. I didn’t notice the same issues in the beige ones, and though they didn’t stay up I was able to fold them over in a way that looked nice and secured them. They just ended up being too orange for my skin tone!
As for the black colour, the quality just isn’t up to my standards at all. The issues I had with them include:
-The fabric being so thin that within 5 minutes of me having them on there were already two runs down both legs. And I don’t believe I was tugging on them hard enough to illicit runs so quickly.
-There are several horizontal black lines through the fabric that noticeably standout when stretched out against your leg.
-The back seam runs right to the end so that it’s under your foot and can get quite uncomfortable.
-They are impossible to keep up without garters. I planned to wear them in a more casual sense and just personally am not a fan of garters so I was hoping I would be able to avoid needing anything to keep them up. As I mentioned with the beige ones I was able to fold them over and still have them look nice, but with the black ones I could not figure out a way to even fold them to stay put, let alone look pleasant. Within about 7 strides they are already falling below my knees. I am unable to even move an inch without them starting to slip. My thighs are by no means big but they also do have some curve. It’s possible they would work better garterless for somebody with a different body shape than me, but with how easily they started to run without a big stretch I would be hesitant to even recommend them for anyone.
The one plus is that the lace is quite beautiful and I would absolutely love to wear them if they weren’t already so flawed. I know there are adhesives and tapes available to help keep stockings up but this pair just isn’t worth the additional investment in my opinion.
